Clomid, the brand name for Clomiphene Citrate, is a Selective Estrogen Receptor Modulator (SERM). Its primary medical use is as a fertility drug in women. However, it is widely used in men for Post-Cycle Therapy (PCT) after an anabolic steroid cycle. It works by blocking estrogen receptors in the hypothalamus and pituitary gland. This makes the brain think that estrogen levels are low, so it responds by increasing the production of gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH), which in turn stimulates the release of Luteinizing Hormone (LH) and Follicle-Stimulating Hormone (FSH). This powerful stimulation of the HPTA (Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Testicular Axis) helps to rapidly restart the body's own natural production of testosterone. While effective, it is known for causing more emotional and visual side effects than other SERMs like Nolvadex, but it is a cornerstone of many recovery protocols.
